SEO Software for Agencies: Multi Seat Plans, Client Pricing and White Label Reporting Compared
SEO software for agencies costs between $250 and $900 a month once you count the two things the pricing pages bury: how many client projects the plan actually holds, and how many of your staff can log in. A five person team running 20 client sites pays $489 on Ahrefs Standard, about $282 on SE Ranking Growth with the Agency Pack, and near $900 on Semrush Business. Only one of those three includes white label reporting, and only one of them will sell you the fifth working login without a sales call.

Keywordpilot is an independent keyword research and content planning tool. We are not an all-in-one agency suite and we do not sell white label reporting, so this page names the platforms that do. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or a reseller of SE Ranking, Ahrefs, Semrush or Moz, and those names are their owners’ trademarks. Every price below was read off the vendor’s own pricing page in August 2026, with the SE Ranking add-on figures re-checked on 29 August 2026.
▸ The number that decides the purchase, and nobody publishes it
What SEO tools for agencies actually cost at 5 staff and 20 clients
Every roundup of the best SEO tools for agencies compares headline plan prices. Agencies do not buy headline plans. They buy the cheapest tier that holds their client count, then pay again for every person who needs to log in. Below is the same realistic scenario priced on each platform: 20 client sites, five people who each need their own working login, and white label reporting where the vendor sells it. The arithmetic is ours; the inputs are the vendors’ published figures.
| Platform | Cheapest tier holding 20 client projects | Getting to 5 working logins | Monthly total | White label |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SE Ranking Growth | Growth, 30 projects, $223.20 billed annually | Capped at 3 manager seats. A fifth working login needs Enterprise, quoted. | $282.20 with the Agency Pack, but only 3 of your 5 staff can log in | Yes, Agency Pack at EUR 59 a month, annual billing only |
| Ahrefs Standard | Standard, 20 projects, $249 a month | 1 included plus 4 extra at $60 each | $489 | No, not sold at any tier |
| Semrush Business | Business, 40 projects, $499.95 a month | 1 included plus 4 extra at roughly $100 each | About $900 | Report branding via My Reports |
| Moz Pro Large | Large, 25 tracked sites, $299 monthly or $239 billed annually | Capped at 3 users. No fifth seat sold. | $239 on annual billing, $299 month to month, and only 3 of your 5 staff can log in | No |
| Ahrefs Advanced | Advanced, 50 projects, $449 a month | 1 included plus 4 extra at $80 each | $769 | No |
The finding that survives this table is not about price. It is that three of the four major platforms will not sell a five person agency five working logins on the plan that fits 20 clients. SE Ranking stops at three manager seats on Growth, Moz Pro stops at three users on Large, and Semrush ships one seat on every tier and charges near $100 for each addition. Ahrefs is the only one of the four that lets you simply buy the fifth login, and it is also the only one with no white label option at all. If both matter to you, you are buying two products, which is exactly how agency software budgets reach $1,500 a month.
The full per-tier breakdowns behind these figures sit on our SE Ranking pricing, Ahrefs pricing, Semrush pricing and Moz Pro pricing pages.
▸ The wording trap in every agency comparison online
Client seats and working seats are not the same product
This single distinction causes more mispriced agency stacks than anything else in the category, and almost every comparison article gets it wrong. SE Ranking’s Agency Pack advertises 30 seats. Those are client seats: read-only logins for the people who receive your reports. Ahrefs sells seats too, at $40 to $80 a month, and those are working logins for staff who run research. Reading the first number as if it were the second, which is the standard error, makes SE Ranking look like it supports 30 staff when it supports three.
Client seats
Logins you hand to a customer so they can see their own dashboard. Read-only, scoped to one project, and cheap or free in bulk because they cost the vendor almost nothing. SE Ranking bundles 30 into the Agency Pack. They do not let anyone do research.
Working seats
Logins for your own team, with full access to keyword, backlink and audit data. These are metered hard because each one consumes real query volume. Ahrefs charges $40, $60 or $80 a month depending on tier and caps the count. SE Ranking calls these manager seats and includes one on Core, three on Growth.
Practical consequence: SE Ranking is the only one of the two that will give your client a login at all, and Ahrefs is the only one that will straightforwardly sell you a fifth working login. Neither does both. The seat and licence models are worked through in detail in SE Ranking Agency Pack pricing against Ahrefs seat costs.
▸ Who will actually let you put your logo on it
White label SEO software: what each vendor will and will not brand
White label means different things at different price points, and vendors are deliberately loose with the word. Branding a PDF is not the same as branding the platform your client logs into. Here is what each one publishes.
| Vendor | What gets branded | Cost of the white label layer | Billing catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| SE Ranking | The platform and the reporting, plus unlimited scheduled reports with AI summaries, Agency Catalog placement and a Lead Generator widget | Agency Pack, EUR 59 a month on top of the plan | Annual billing only, so there is no monthly way to try it |
| Semrush | Reports, through My Reports | Included on the plan, with a Base Report add-on at $10 a month and a Pro Report add-on at $20 | Report branding only, not the platform itself |
| Ahrefs | Nothing. No white label option is published on any tier including Enterprise | Not sold | Agencies needing branded client access pair Ahrefs with a separate reporting tool |
| Moz Pro | Nothing published on the pricing page | Not sold | Same pairing problem as Ahrefs |
A correction worth making, because the wrong figure is repeated widely: several 2026 roundups state the SE Ranking Agency Pack costs $69 a month. Read off SE Ranking’s own subscription page on 29 August 2026, it is EUR 59.00 a month, annual billing only, and it includes 30 projects, 30 client seats, white label for both the platform and the reporting, unlimited scheduled reporting with AI summaries, Agency Catalog placement and a Lead Generator. Note also that SE Ranking’s add-on numerals are identical in euros and dollars, while its plan numerals are not, so EUR 109 for Core corresponds to $129 rather than to $109.
There is a second category this page does not price, because we have not verified the figures ourselves: dedicated agency reporting platforms such as AgencyAnalytics, DashThis and Swydo, which do nothing but aggregate and brand client dashboards. They typically bill per client rather than per seat, which inverts the maths above and can work out cheaper for an agency with few staff and many small accounts. Price them directly rather than trusting a listicle, including ours.
▸ The four limits that bind an agency, not a solo SEO
SEO platform for agencies: project, keyword and seat ceilings compared
A solo consultant runs out of nothing. An agency runs out of projects first, tracked keywords second and seats third, usually in that order and usually about four months after signing. These are the published ceilings on the tiers most agencies land on.
| Plan | Projects | Keywords tracked | Working seats, max | AI prompts tracked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SE Ranking Core, $129 | 10 | 2,000 daily | 1 | 100 daily |
| SE Ranking Growth, $279 | 30 | 5,000 daily | 3 | 250 daily |
| Ahrefs Lite, $129 | 5 | 750 | 3 | 5 |
| Ahrefs Standard, $249 | 20 | 2,000 | 6 | 10 |
| Ahrefs Advanced, $449 | 50 | 5,000 | 11 | 20 |
| Semrush Guru, $249.95 | 15 | 1,500 | Unlimited, at about $80 each | Sold separately at $99 per domain |
| Semrush Business, $499.95 | 40 | 5,000 | Unlimited, at about $100 each | Sold separately at $99 per domain |
| Moz Pro Large, $299 | 25 campaigns | 3,000 | 3 | 200 |
Two rows in that table are worth a second look before you sign anything. SE Ranking Core and Ahrefs Lite cost an identical $129 a month, and Core carries twice the projects, roughly 2.7 times the tracked keywords and twenty times the AI prompt allowance. And Semrush is the only platform here that prices AI visibility tracking per domain, at $99 a month each, which for an agency tracking eight client brands is $792 a month against SE Ranking Core’s 100 daily prompts across ten projects inside the base $129. That gap is worked through on the AI search visibility tools comparison.
▸ Four questions, in this order
How to choose SEO software for an agency without buying twice
1. Count clients, then add half
Pick the tier that holds your client count plus the growth you expect this year, because moving tiers mid-contract on annual billing is where the refund conversations start. Twenty clients needs Ahrefs Standard, SE Ranking Growth or Semrush Business, not the plan each vendor advertises hardest.
2. Count logins honestly
Write down how many people genuinely need to run research, not how many are on the team. That number is what you are actually buying, and on three of the four major platforms it is the constraint that forces a sales call rather than a checkout.
3. Decide if clients log in
If clients only ever receive a PDF, report branding is enough and Semrush covers it. If clients log into a dashboard with your logo on it, only SE Ranking sells that among the research platforms, and it costs EUR 59 a month on annual billing.
4. Audit what you already own
Before adding an AI visibility tracker or a reporting layer, check the current subscription. SE Ranking Core already includes 100 daily AI prompts and Moz Pro Standard includes 50, so a meaningful share of agencies are about to buy something they own.
▸ Best SEO tools for agencies, by the shape of the agency
Which agency each platform actually suits
Small agency, under 10 clients
SE Ranking Core at $103.20 billed annually holds 10 projects and 2,000 daily tracked keywords, which is more headroom than anything else at that price. The one manager seat is the ceiling to watch, so a second strategist means Growth.
White label is non-negotiable
SE Ranking Growth plus the Agency Pack, about $282 a month all in. It is the only research platform that brands the platform itself rather than just a PDF, and the 30 client seats come with it.
Research quality comes first
Ahrefs Standard at $249. The deepest link index of the four, 20 projects, and the only one that will sell you seats five and six without a negotiation. Accept that client reporting will need a second tool.
Search plus paid media in one
Semrush Business at $499.95. It is the most expensive route to 20 client projects and the seats are the priciest of any vendor here, but the advertising, PR and content data has no equivalent on the other three.
Local SEO shops
None of the four is built for multi-location work, and specialist tools own this segment. Judge them on how they handle Google Business Profile data and location grids rather than on keyword database size. Our take on the research side sits on the local keyword research page.
Content-led agencies
The platform choice matters less than the planning layer, because none of these four produce the brief. This is the gap Keywordpilot fills, and it is described honestly in the next section rather than dressed up as a fifth option here.
Head to head breakdowns for the two pairings agencies shortlist most often are on Ahrefs vs Semrush and Ahrefs vs SE Ranking, and the multi-client research workflow itself is covered on keyword research for agencies. If you are buying for your own company rather than for clients, the economics invert and the entry tiers matter far more than the seat maths, which is worked through on SEO tools for small business. Above the plans on this page the vendors stop publishing prices altogether, and what the four that stay silent can be pinned down to is set out on enterprise SEO software.
▸ Where Keywordpilot fits, and where it does not
We are not an agency suite. We are the planning step in front of one
Worth stating plainly on a page that ranks for agency software queries: Keywordpilot does not do rank tracking, backlink analysis, site audits or white label client dashboards, and swapping your platform for us would be a downgrade. What the four platforms above have in common is that they all hand you a keyword export and stop. Turning 800 rows into a client content plan is still the part somebody does by hand on a Friday afternoon, and it is the part that decides whether the retainer renews.
Keywordpilot takes one seed term per client and returns the structure: keywords grouped into topic clusters by intent, a winnability read on each cluster so the topics a client’s domain will not reach this year get dropped before anyone commits budget, and a publish order with a brief per cluster. For an agency that means the pitch deck and the first quarter of the content calendar come out of the same twenty minutes, per client, rather than per week.
One seed per client
Type the term the client sells against. No export step, no list to paste in first, no credits metered against a monthly ceiling.
Clusters, not rows
Keywords come back grouped by the intent that would be satisfied by the same page, which is the unit a content plan is built from.
Winnability per cluster
Each cluster carries a difficulty read against the client site, so the pitch does not promise a term the domain cannot reach.
A publish order
The plan arrives sequenced with a brief per cluster, which is the deliverable the retainer is actually paying for.
The grouping step itself is described on the keyword clustering tool page, running several client lists at once is bulk keyword search volume checking, and the AI-assisted platforms in this space are scored on the AI SEO software roundup.
▸ People also ask
SEO software for agencies questions
What is the best SEO software for agencies?
There is no single answer, because agencies split on one question: do you need white label reporting or do you need working logins for staff? SE Ranking Growth plus the Agency Pack is the cheapest route to genuine white label at about $282 a month. Ahrefs Standard is the better research platform and offers no white label at all. Pick on that split first, then compare features.
How much does SEO software cost for an agency?
Budget $250 to $900 a month for a small agency running around 20 client sites with five people who each need a login. The headline plan price is rarely the bill. Seats, client licences and white label add-ons routinely double it, and the tier that fits 20 projects is usually two steps above the one the pricing page pushes you toward.
Which SEO tools offer white label reporting?
Among the major research platforms, SE Ranking is the only one selling full platform and report white labelling, through the Agency Pack at EUR 59 a month on annual billing only. Semrush offers report branding through My Reports. Ahrefs and Moz Pro do not sell white labelling at all. Dedicated reporting tools such as AgencyAnalytics, DashThis and Swydo exist purely for this job.
How many client seats do I get with agency SEO software?
Read the wording carefully, because vendors count two different things. SE Ranking's Agency Pack includes 30 client seats, which are read-only logins for the people receiving reports. Ahrefs sells working logins at $40 to $80 a month each and caps them at 6 on Standard. Thirty client seats and thirty users are not the same product.
Can I resell SEO software to my clients?
Only under a genuine white label or reseller agreement, which most research platforms do not offer. SE Ranking's Agency Pack covers white labelling the platform and the reporting, and includes an Agency Catalog placement. Reselling logins on a plan that does not permit it breaches the terms of service, so check the contract rather than assuming a branded PDF makes it allowed.
Do agencies need more than one SEO tool?
Most run two or three, and the overlap is where money leaks. A typical stack is one research and rank tracking platform, one reporting layer if the platform cannot white label, and increasingly one AI visibility tracker. Before adding the third, check what your existing subscription already includes, because several platforms now bundle AI prompt tracking nobody is using.
What SEO software works for a small agency?
For an agency under about 10 clients, SE Ranking Core at $103.20 a month on annual billing covers 10 projects and 2,000 tracked keywords, which is more headroom than Ahrefs Lite gives at the same list price. The constraint to watch is seats: Core includes one manager login, so a second strategist means moving up a tier.
Is Ahrefs or Semrush better for agencies?
Ahrefs is better value once staff logins are counted. Ahrefs Standard at $249 covers 20 projects and adds seats at $60, so five people costs $489. Semrush needs Business at $499.95 to reach 20 client projects, and its extra seats run near $100, so the same team lands near $900. Semrush wins on advertising and content data breadth.
