SE Ranking's Agency Pack costs $59 a month on annual billing and adds white-label reporting, 30 client seats and Agency Catalog placement on top of a Core or Growth plan. Ahrefs has no agency pack and no white label at any tier; what it sells instead is extra users, at $40 a month each on Lite, $60 on Standard and $80 on Advanced. Those two numbers get compared to each other constantly, and they should not be, because they buy different things. One is a bill for the people doing the work. The other is a bill for the people reading the output.

That distinction is the whole article. Get it right and the maths is simple; get it wrong and you will either overbuy seats you never needed or promise a client branded reporting your platform cannot produce. All figures below were read off each vendor's published pricing page in August 2026, and the wider platform comparison sits on Ahrefs vs SE Ranking.

What each vendor actually charges for

SE Ranking Ahrefs
Seats in the base plan 1 manager seat on Core, 3 on Growth 1 user on every tier, Starter through Advanced
Cost of another person using the tool Move up a tier, Core $129 to Growth $279 $40/mo on Lite, $60 on Standard, $80 on Advanced
Hard seat ceiling 3 manager seats on Growth, more via Enterprise 3 users on Lite, 6 on Standard, 11 on Advanced
Client-facing access 30 client seats in the Agency Pack, $59/mo annual No client seat product; share exports or a report link
White label Platform and reporting, via the Agency Pack None published at any tier
Scheduled reporting Unlimited scheduled reports plus AI summaries in the pack Report Builder, included from Lite
Add-on billing terms Agency Pack, AI Search and API are annual billing only Extra users billed monthly alongside the plan

Price out a real agency instead of a tier

Tier tables mislead because agencies do not buy tiers, they buy enough of five different limits at once. Here is the same shop priced on both platforms. Assume five staff who need to log in, twenty client sites, daily rank tracking and monthly branded reports.

On Ahrefs, twenty projects means Standard at $249 a month. Standard includes one user and allows five more at $60 each, so four extra logins is $240, giving $489 a month, or roughly $406 with the annual discount of up to 17%. Your clients get PDFs and links with Ahrefs branding on them, because there is no white label to turn on.

On SE Ranking, twenty projects fits inside Growth at $279 a month, $223.20 on annual billing. Growth includes three manager seats, so five staff means either a workaround or an Enterprise conversation, which is a genuine limitation and the place Ahrefs is straightforwardly better. Add the Agency Pack at $59 and you get white label across the platform and reporting plus 30 client seats, landing at $282.20 a month on annual billing.

So SE Ranking is roughly $124 a month cheaper on this profile and ships the branded reporting, while Ahrefs is the only one of the two that will straightforwardly sell you a fifth login. Which of those matters more is a real decision, not a marketing one.

Client seats are not staff seats, and the difference costs money

The single most common mistake in this comparison is reading SE Ranking's 30 client seats as 30 users and concluding it is six times cheaper than Ahrefs per head. It is not. Client seats are for the people you report to: a marketing manager who wants to look at their own rankings between calls, without buying anything. Manager seats are for the people who run the work, and SE Ranking caps those at three on Growth.

Ahrefs runs the opposite shape. It will sell you up to eleven working logins on Advanced, but it has nothing to give the client except an export. If your retainer includes a dashboard the client can open themselves, that is a product gap you cannot pay Ahrefs to close, and it is the reason agencies with a lot of small accounts drift to SE Ranking regardless of the tool quality argument.

Work out which of the two you are actually short of before you compare prices. If the bottleneck is people doing the work, Ahrefs seats are the cleaner buy. If it is client visibility, the Agency Pack replaces a job you are currently doing by hand every month.

The annual billing trap on SE Ranking add-ons

Every SE Ranking add-on that matters to an agency is annual billing only: the Agency Pack at $59, the AI Search pack at $63.20 for 200 prompts, and the API pack at $39 for three million credits. You cannot switch them on for a month to cover a pitch and switch them off again. The 20% annual discount on the base plans is also charged upfront and is not refundable, so the real commitment when you go all in on SE Ranking is a year, not a month.

Ahrefs bills extra users monthly next to the plan, which is more flexible for a team that grows and shrinks with projects. It is a small thing until you hire a contractor for one quarter, at which point paying $60 for three months beats a twelve month commitment to anything.

The offsetting advantage is that SE Ranking lets you test the whole thing first. It runs a 14 day trial with no credit card required, on both Core and Growth. Ahrefs runs no free trial on any plan, so evaluating it is a purchase. If you are timeboxing a tool decision this quarter, that asymmetry is covered properly in the keyword research tool free trial comparison.

What neither pack buys you

Both of these are reporting and monitoring purchases. Neither one decides what your clients should publish next. You will still export a keyword list, still argue in a spreadsheet about which forty terms belong on one page, and still build the content calendar by hand, which for a twenty client roster is the most expensive recurring hour in the agency and the one nobody prices.

That is the step Keywordpilot handles. Give it a seed term for a client and it expands the keyword set, scores volume and difficulty, groups the terms into intent-aware clusters and returns a sequenced content plan with a brief per cluster, at $39 a month rather than $59 for branded PDFs of numbers you already had. It does not track rankings or crawl backlinks, so it sits alongside whichever platform you pick rather than replacing it. The clustering output is shown on the keyword clustering tool page, and the agency-specific workflow on keyword research for agencies.

Worth saying too: the reporting bill is rarely the expensive part of running an agency. New business is, and the hours that disappear into discovery calls before a retainer is even signed are worth automating well before you optimize a $59 add-on. Running that first discovery consultation automatically recovers more margin in a quarter than either of these pricing decisions will.

So which should an agency buy?

Buy SE Ranking Core or Growth plus the Agency Pack if your clients expect branded reporting, you manage more than about eight sites, and no more than three people need working logins. It is cheaper on that profile, the white label removes a manual job, and the 14 day no-card trial means you can prove it before committing to the year.

Buy Ahrefs if backlink research is genuinely part of the retainer, if more than three staff need to work in the tool at once, or if you would rather pay per person monthly than commit annually. You will send unbranded reports and you will pay more per head, and for link-driven agencies that is still the right trade. The platform level comparison, including what each one gives you at the identical $129 entry price, is on Ahrefs vs SE Ranking, and the plan-by-plan detail is on SE Ranking pricing.
