Ahrefs Pricing 2026: Plans, Cost, Price Per Seat and API Pricing

Ahrefs costs $29 a month on Starter, $129 on Lite, $249 on Standard, $449 on Advanced and from $1,499 on Enterprise, all for a single user. Paying annually on Lite, Standard or Advanced takes roughly 17 percent off. The number that catches people out is not the tier price, it is the seat and credit math underneath it, because every plan includes exactly one login and extra people cost $40 to $80 each per month. Below is every plan, every published limit and the real monthly bill for a team, verified against Ahrefs own pricing and help pages in July 2026.

▸ The full lineup

Ahrefs pricing plans and what each one costs

Five paid tiers plus a free account. The jump from Starter to Lite is the biggest in the range, both in price and in what the tool will actually let you do, and it is the decision most buyers get wrong in one direction or the other.

Plan Monthly Paid annually Credits Seats included
Ahrefs Free $0 n/a Verified sites only 1
Starter $29 Not offered 200 a month 1, no additions allowed
Lite $129 About $108 a month Up to 1,000 a month 1, up to 2 more
Standard $249 About $208 a month Unlimited 1, up to 5 more
Advanced $449 About $374 a month Unlimited 1, up to 10 more
Enterprise From $1,499 Annual commitment required Unlimited 3, unlimited additions

One quirk worth knowing before you compare notes with anyone: ahrefs.com/pricing detects your location and shows euros to European visitors, where the same tiers read as roughly €27, €119, €229, €419 and €1,394. The dollar figures above are the US list prices.

▸ The tier most comparisons miss

What the $29 Starter plan actually gets you

A surprising number of articles still open with "Ahrefs starts at $129 a month". It does not, and has not for a while. Starter exists at $29, it includes Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit and Rank Tracker, and for a solo site owner doing occasional checks it is a reasonable purchase. The caveats are real though, and they are the reason the $100 gap to Lite exists.

250 rows per report

Every Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer report truncates at 250 rows, and the Top pages report at 25. Fine for reading the shape of a competitor. Useless for pulling a full keyword universe or a complete backlink profile.

No exports at all

Exporting is a Lite feature and up, where you get 500,000 rows a month. On Starter, whatever you find stays in the Ahrefs interface. If your workflow ends in a spreadsheet, Starter cannot serve it.

One month of history

Higher tiers keep six months. With one month you can see where a site is now but not really how it got there, which removes most of the value of trend and competitor-trajectory analysis.

200 credits a month

Each report you open spends a credit, plus 500 extra crawl credits for each verified project. A focused afternoon of competitor research can burn through the monthly allowance in one sitting.

Strictly one user

Starter is the only paid tier that cannot add seats at any price. The moment a second person needs access you are moving to Lite, which changes the comparison from $29 to $129.

Monthly billing only

The two months free annual discount applies to Lite, Standard and Advanced. Ahrefs renews Starter monthly only, so there is no way to bring the $29 down further.

Read that list as a description rather than a complaint. Starter is priced like a lookup tool because it is one. The mistake is buying it expecting research capability, then concluding the data is thin when the row cap was the actual constraint. We walk through the same trade-off from the other direction in how much does Ahrefs cost.

▸ Seats change everything

The real Ahrefs cost once a team logs in

Every tier includes one seat. That single line is responsible for most of the gap between the price people quote and the invoice they receive. Here is what a three person team pays at each level, monthly billing, no annual discount applied.

Plan Base price Each extra seat Total for 3 people
Starter $29 Not available Cannot be done, Starter is single user
Lite $129 About $40 About $209 a month
Standard $249 About $60 About $369 a month
Advanced $449 About $80 About $609 a month
Enterprise From $1,499 Included, 3 seats standard From $1,499 a month

A three person team on Lite is paying $209 a month, not $129. That is the figure worth putting in a budget, and it is why the Lite versus Standard decision usually comes down to headcount rather than features. We break that specific choice down in Ahrefs Lite vs Standard.

▸ What you get for the money

Published limits, tier by tier

Prices are easy to compare and limits are not, which is where buying decisions go wrong. These are the numbers Ahrefs publishes in its own plan comparison.

Limit Starter Lite Standard Advanced
Monthly credits 200 Up to 1,000 Unlimited Unlimited
Rows per report 250 Standard limits Standard limits Standard limits
Data export None 500,000 rows a month Yes Yes
Historical data 1 month 6 months 6 months 6 months
Projects 1 unverified 5 20 50
API units a month None Limited Limited 1,000,000
Content Explorer No No Yes Yes

On API pricing specifically: Ahrefs does not publish a public per-unit rate. Advanced carries 1,000,000 units a month and Enterprise 2,000,000, with uncapped access named as an Enterprise feature. If the API is your reason for buying, price it from Advanced upward and talk to their sales team rather than assuming a cheap tier will cover it.

▸ Matching tier to job

Which Ahrefs plan the job actually needs

You own one site and check it occasionally

Ahrefs Free covers your own verified site for nothing. If you also want to look at competitors now and then, Starter at $29 is proportionate. Do not pay $129 for capability you will open twice a quarter.

You publish regularly and research competitors

This is the Lite case at $129. You get exports, six months of history and up to 1,000 credits, which is enough to run real research cycles. Add seats only when a second person genuinely needs their own login.

You are an agency with several clients

Standard at $249 is the realistic floor: 20 projects, unlimited credits and Content Explorer. With three people that is around $369 a month, which is the number to put in a client retainer calculation.

You need API data in your own systems

Budget from Advanced at $449, where 1,000,000 API units a month are included. Enterprise doubles that and adds uncapped access, SSO and an audit log, from $1,499 on an annual commitment.

If none of those quite fit because what you actually need is a plan of what to write rather than a backlink index, that is a different purchase entirely. The Ahrefs alternative page covers where the two approaches diverge, and the best keyword research tools roundup prices the wider category.

▸ Different tools, different bills

Ahrefs price against the rest of the category

Worth saying plainly: Ahrefs is not overpriced for what it is. A backlink index of that size costs real money to build and maintain, and nothing on this list matches it. The question is whether an index is what you are buying.

Tool Entry price What you are paying for
Ahrefs $29 Starter, $129 Lite The strongest backlink index in the category, plus solid keyword data. Priced per seat, which is what makes team use expensive.
Semrush $139.95 Pro Breadth. Roughly fifty tools covering SEO, ads and social, which is excellent if you use them and wasteful if you use three.
Moz Pro $49 Starter A gentler on-ramp and the original Domain Authority metric. Smaller link index than Ahrefs.
Ubersuggest $29 Individual Cheap keyword and site data, with lifetime deals available. Data depth is well below Ahrefs and it shows on competitive terms.
Google Keyword Planner Free with an Ads account Volume ranges straight from Google, built for advertisers. No difficulty scoring and no organic view.
Keywordpilot From $39 founding The synthesis rather than the raw index: one seed expands into scored topic clusters and a publish-ordered content plan. No backlink index, no site crawl.

▸ People also ask

Ahrefs pricing questions

How much is Ahrefs per month?

Ahrefs runs five paid tiers billed monthly: Starter at $29, Lite at $129, Standard at $249, Advanced at $449 and Enterprise from $1,499 on an annual commitment. Those are the sticker prices for one user. Extra seats, which most teams need, are billed separately on top at $40 to $80 per person per month.

What is the cheapest Ahrefs plan?

Starter at $29 a month is the cheapest paid plan, and Ahrefs Free covers sites you have verified ownership of at no cost. Starter is genuinely useful for spot checks, but it caps every report at 250 rows, keeps only one month of history and blocks exports entirely, so it is a lookup tool rather than a research tool.

Does Ahrefs have a free plan?

Yes. Ahrefs Free, previously called Ahrefs Webmaster Tools, gives you Site Explorer, Site Audit and dashboard access for websites you can verify you own. It will not let you research a competitor or a keyword you do not already rank for, which is the part most people actually want a paid SEO tool for.

Does Ahrefs offer annual billing?

Lite, Standard and Advanced can be paid annually for the equivalent of two months free, roughly 17 percent off, which brings them to about $108, $208 and $374 a month. Starter is the exception: Ahrefs only renews it monthly, so there is no annual discount on the entry tier.

What are Ahrefs credits?

Credits meter how many reports you can open. Starter includes 200 a month, Lite up to 1,000, and Standard and above are uncapped. Each report you pull in Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer or Content Explorer draws from that pool, so a heavy research week on a lower tier can exhaust the allowance well before the month ends.

How much does the Ahrefs API cost?

Ahrefs does not publish a simple per-call price. API units come bundled with the higher tiers: Advanced includes 1,000,000 units a month and Enterprise 2,000,000, per Ahrefs own plan comparison. If API access is the reason you are buying, budget from the Advanced tier upward rather than expecting to bolt it onto a cheap plan.

Can you add users to an Ahrefs plan?

Every paid tier ships with one seat. Starter cannot add users at all. Lite allows up to two more at about $40 each per month, Standard up to five at about $60, and Advanced up to ten at about $80. Enterprise includes three seats and allows unlimited additions.

Is Ahrefs worth it?

It is worth it if you act on competitive link and keyword data at least weekly, which usually means agencies, in-house SEO teams and anyone doing active link building. If you publish a handful of posts a month and mainly need to decide what to write next, the data depth you are paying for on Lite and above goes largely unused.
