For a small business with one website, Ubersuggest Individual at $29 a month is the better buy, and it is not close. SE Ranking Core at $129 gives you 2,000 tracked keywords across 10 projects, which is genuinely more capacity than anything else at that price, and a single-site business will use almost none of it. The moment you run a second or third site, the answer flips completely. That is the whole decision, and the rest of this article is the arithmetic behind it.
Every figure here was read off each vendor's own pricing page on 31 August 2026. That date matters more than usual, because both of these products have changed price structure in the last year and a lot of what is currently ranking for this comparison describes plans that no longer exist. Last updated August 2026.
The prices, as of August 2026
Ubersuggest sells three tiers and SE Ranking now sells two. SE Ranking's page geo-detects and showed euros from our location, so the dollar figures below are its US list prices; the euro numerals and the dollar numerals are not the same, which trips up a lot of comparisons.
| Plan | Monthly list | Annual equivalent | Websites | Keywords tracked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ubersuggest Individual | $29 | Lifetime option offered | 1 domain | 125 per domain |
| Ubersuggest Business | $49 | Lifetime option offered | 7 domains | 150 per domain |
| Ubersuggest Enterprise | $99 | Lifetime option offered | 15 domains | 300 per domain |
| SE Ranking Core | $129 | $103.20 a month | 10 projects | 2,000 tracked daily |
| SE Ranking Growth | $279 | $223.20 a month | 30 projects | 5,000 tracked daily |
Two structural notes before the comparison proper. SE Ranking's annual discount is 20%, and it reconciles cleanly on both tiers, so those annual figures are safe to plan against. And SE Ranking no longer sells an entry plan below Core. The $65 Essential tier that a surprising number of 2026 roundups still recommend to small businesses was deleted in the restructure, which is what took the real cost of starting with SE Ranking from $65 to $129.
The per-domain trap that makes Ubersuggest look cheaper than it is
Here is the detail that decides this comparison and that almost nobody states: Ubersuggest meters tracked keywords per domain, not per account. Read the Business plan as an account-wide allowance and you get 7 domains times 150 keywords, or 1,050 keywords for $49, which works out under five cents each and beats everything on the market including SE Ranking.
For a business with one website, Business at $49 is 150 tracked keywords and six unreachable allowances. The per-unit maths that made it look like the bargain of the category evaporates, because you cannot spend the other six domains' worth on your own site. Per-domain metering flatters a plan in a comparison table and behaves expensively for exactly the customer who is reading the table.
SE Ranking does the opposite. Its 2,000 tracked keywords on Core are an account-wide pool spread across up to 10 projects however you like, so a single-site business can point all 2,000 at one domain. That is a genuinely better model. It is also, for most small businesses, 1,900 keywords more than they will ever populate.
Cost per tracked keyword, and why it is the wrong tiebreak
| Plan for one website | Monthly | Usable tracked keywords | Cost per keyword |
|---|---|---|---|
| SE Ranking Core | $129 | 2,000 | $0.065 |
| Ubersuggest Individual | $29 | 125 | $0.23 |
| Ubersuggest Business | $49 | 150 on your one domain | $0.33 |
On this metric SE Ranking wins by a factor of three and a half, and the metric is still the wrong way to finish the decision. Cost per unit only counts if you spend the units. A dental practice with one site and sixty terms worth ranking for does not become better off by buying 2,000 slots at a good rate. It becomes $100 a month poorer.
The crossover sits at roughly 300 tracked keywords. Below it, Ubersuggest Individual is the rational purchase and the $100 monthly difference is better spent on writing pages. Above roughly 700, SE Ranking Core is not seriously challenged at its price by anything, including Ahrefs Lite, which costs an identical $129 and gives 750 tracked keywords and 5 projects. Between 300 and 700 it is a genuine toss-up and other factors decide.
What each one gives you beyond keyword counts
Ubersuggest Individual is a single user, one domain, 1,000 page scans, 5 competitors tracked, 20 locations and 150 searches a day. That last number is the one small business owners actually hit, because 150 lookups sounds generous until you spend an afternoon exploring a niche. Business doubles it to 300 a day and adds a second user.
SE Ranking Core includes 10 projects, one manager seat, 5 domains in its GEO research, 250,000 pages a month of site audit, 25,000 API credits with MCP access, and 100 AI prompts tracked daily. The seat count is the constraint to watch: Core ships exactly one working login, and a second person means Growth at more than double the price. For a solo owner that is irrelevant. For a two-person marketing team it is the entire decision.
On trials, SE Ranking runs 14 days with no credit card required, stated plainly under both plan buttons. Ubersuggest offers a free trial on all three tiers with no obligation. Both are genuinely evaluable before you pay, which is worth appreciating given that Ahrefs, the biggest name in the category, runs no free trial at any tier.
The AI features, and the gap in both of them
Both vendors now push AI visibility as a headline feature, and both have the same blind spot. Ubersuggest lists ChatGPT and Gemini in keyword research on Individual and Business, adding Google AI Overview on Enterprise. SE Ranking tracks 100 prompts a day on Core across its supported engines and sells a separate AI Search add-on at EUR 63.20 a month for 200 prompts. Neither lists Claude among the engines it monitors.
For most small businesses that does not matter yet. If you sell to developers, lawyers or finance teams, it matters a great deal, because those audiences use Claude heavily and neither product will show you a single thing about how you appear in it. It is worth asking any vendor which engines they actually cover rather than accepting "AI visibility" as a feature bullet.
Which one should a small business buy?
Buy Ubersuggest Individual at $29 if you have one website, you are in your first year or two of taking SEO seriously, and fewer than about 150 keywords describe everything you sell. That covers most local businesses, most single-product shops and most professional practices. Add Google Search Console, which is free and gives you real query data rather than an estimate of it, and you have a complete setup for under $30 a month.
Buy SE Ranking Core at $129, or $103.20 annually, if you run several sites or locations, if SEO is now a weekly job rather than an occasional one, or if you need the audit and API side. The capacity is real and no competitor at $129 matches it on projects or tracked keywords.
Do not buy Ubersuggest Business at $49 for a single website expecting the per-domain allowance to help you. It will not, and Individual plus the $100 you saved is the better position. The one case where Business earns its price for a small business is genuine multi-site work, such as a franchise with separate location domains, where the per-domain model finally works in your favour.
If you also run paid ads alongside this, the tooling question changes shape, because neither of these platforms writes the creative and the ad side eats budget far faster than a $29 subscription does. Small teams increasingly hand that part to a tool that turns a product URL into ready-to-run video ads rather than adding a second research platform they will not open twice a week.
What neither of them does
Both products end at the same place: a list. You get keywords, volumes, difficulty scores and a rank tracker watching the terms you already chose. Deciding which four pages to write next, and in what order, is still a job somebody does by hand, and for a small business owner that somebody is usually you on a Sunday.
That gap is what Keywordpilot fills, and it sits in front of either of these rather than replacing them. One seed term comes back as clusters grouped by intent, each with a winnability read against your own domain so the topics a small site will not reach this year get dropped before you spend a month on them, and a publish order with a brief per cluster. The full pricing comparison across all five major platforms is on our SEO tools for small business page, the per-vendor detail is on Ubersuggest pricing and SE Ranking pricing, and if you are weighing SE Ranking against the other $129 option, that is Ahrefs vs SE Ranking. The grouping step itself is described on the keyword clustering tools page.
